I Have Had Enough Of Political Bullies

My fourth submission to the This Is White Privilege blog on Tumblr was posted recently, #739. (I also posted #726, #686, and #569.) I’ve had enough of the aggressively loud bullying tactics that Governor Chris Christie employs, and I wrote about it. Not like my Governor, Rick Scott, is a charm, but Christie is utterly ridiculous. Below is what I wrote:

White privilege is Chris Christie. He’s a loud mouth bully with an inferiority complex, but he is applauded for his aggression because he is White. Imagine if President Obama behaved like him. Imagine if Cory Booker behaved this way. Ok…let’s choose a governor since Christie is a governor. Imagine if one of the only TWO Black governors that have existed, Governor Deval Patrick behaved this way. He would not be applauded. People would resort to the most primitive stereotypes of “threatening” and “angry Black man.”

(I tried to have an ounce of sympathy when Oprah interviewed him months ago, and clearly his weight issues effect his entire outlook on life and his self-esteem, but enough is enough.)

And before people suggest that this is just a “male” thing, I provide you with exhibit B: Jan Brewer. She was blatantly aggressive to the President yet claimed that she felt threatened. She used her intersectionality to her benefit…White privilege to threaten and then female persecution—the stereotype of being weak and soft as a woman (unlike minority women, according to the memes of White privilege) to then claim that she “felt threatened.” In some ways, this makes her even more dangerous than Chris Christie.
