[TRIGGER WARNING: Hate crime/assault] This atrocious attack on Brandi Worley (a Black woman, a contractor helping to manage hurricane cleanup) by a White man, Josh Jambon, while Black men stood there and watched is very painful to watch, so decide if you want to watch this video or not.

This man KNEW OF and walked in the confidence of White privilege in that moment. It was not (and never is) a figment of a Black imagination. It is a fact. He specifically used racial epithets, and physically attacked her (spitting in her face). He also said that “not a man out here is gonna do anything.” He knew that none of the Black men out there would have her back.

Further, the commentators trying to analyze this video are trying to do their best analyzing it but there are two problems. One, the Black guy calling this man a “pussy” does NOT HELP. AT ALL. Patriarchal masculinity, after the fact no less, does not help. Two, the question of which is worse, being spit on or being called nigger is not even a question to ask. It’s irrelevant. This man did both to her, so why does it matter which is worse?

The attacker himself, the Black male bystanders and the people trying to analyze what happen ALL give me a headache.

I am glad that she caught this on video, sorry that she was attacked, and glad that she has her mother to support her. The man was arrested and charged with battery. He claims that he is a “good person,” whatever the hell that means…
