This morning on The Melissa Harris-Perry Show, five Black women gathered to discuss the impact of Kerry Washington's character “Olivia Pope” on the show Scandal, the number #1 rated scripted drama among Black viewers and created by the Black female creative genius Shonda Rhimes. Her panel included Joy Reid, Heather McGhee, Andrea Plaid and Janet Mock. Great conversation! Some interesting points were raised about Black women’s humanity (being able to be imperfect, on and off screen matters), sexuality, race, politics and media itself.

The last time I saw an all-Black woman panel on TV was actually on this same show, when a panel of Black women discussed natural hair.
